Construction Permit Process
If you have decided that you are not exempt, you will need to apply for a construction permit (see link at the bottom of this page).
A construction permit must be obtained PRIOR to the start of construction. The DNR has a complicated definition of "Start of Construction" (see Definitions / FAQ page)
"Start of Construction" can include activities such as:
- site clearing
- grading
- dredging
- landfilling
- changing equipment
- substituting equipment
- or even moving the location of equipment
