If your small business plans include disturbing one or more acres of land (1 acre = approx 210 feet by 210 feet of land area) you will need to apply for a Construction Storm water Management Permit (link below).

NOTE: If your proposed facility is near surface waters or wetlands you may also need a DNR Waterway and Wetlands permit. Please refer to the pop-up link (opens in new window), Waterway and Wetland Permits for more information.

NOTE: You need to implement Best Management Practices that will meet the performance standards in Sub. III of Chapter NR 151 Wisc. Adm. Code Chapter NR 151, Subchapter III, Performance Standard for Construction Sites. This standard for requires implementation of an erosion and sediment control plan using Best Management Practices (BMPs). Sediment and erosion control practices contained in the 1993 Wisconsin Construction Site Best Management Practice Handbook will be accepted as meeting the performance standards until the handbook is revised
